Vernon Administrator Named Outstanding First-Year High School Principal
Michelle Zawawi, principal of Rockville High School, has been named the William Cieslukowski Outstanding First Year High School Principal Award for 2018-2019. Michelle was nominated for the award by her superintendent, Dr. Joseph Macary, who wrote that she is “…one of the finest educators I have had the pleasure of working with.” Michelle’s compassion while holding staff and students to high standards of performance, her emphasis on instructional practices and embedded professional learning, and her vision and strong character were cited as outstanding attributes by those staff members who added letters of support to the application. Michelle’s nomination packet was impressive for the multitude of initiatives she has led and inspired during her first year at Rockville High School.
A May recognition ceremony has been planned with the Vernon Board of Education to honor Michelle’s accomplishment. Congratulations, Michelle!
