Twenty-one students from the CT Middle School Debate League (CTMSDL) joined peers from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, Maryland and Colorado to compete in the English in Action Middle School Debate Championship Tournament on May 5 in New York City. 

The CTMSDL sent one team of comprised of three debaters each from seven schools:

• Bethel Middle School
• Smith Middle School, Glastonbury
• Middlebrook School, Wilton
• The Hive (home-school group based in Redding)
• Westfield Academy, West Hartford
• St. Luke’s School, New Canaan
• South Orangetown Middle School (located in NY but part of the Connecticut league)

First Place Tournament Award was a 3-way tie between: Norwood School (MD), South Orangetown Middle School (NY) and West End Secondary School (NY). Congratulations South Orangetown MS!
