November Debate Tournaments Break Another Record

The November Connecticut Debate Association (CDA) tournaments broke all attendance records when 518 debaters from 37 schools came to its tournaments at Amity High School and New Canaan High School.

The topic was:

Resolved: The United States should imprison only those who commit violent crimes.

The final round at Amity was won by the Amity team of Eeman Abbasi and Kristin Zakoworotny on Affirmative over the East Catholic team of Jonathan Ockert and Cole Tamburri.

The final round at New Canaan was won by the Joel Barlow team of Brendan O’Connor and Hunter Lightman on Negative over the Wilton team of Rachel Jones and Ryan Cross.

CDA’s next tournaments will be held on December 14 at Joel Barlow High School in Redding and Westhill High School in Stamford. The invitation should go out on or about December 1; and registration on tabroom.com will open on December 2.
