Emotional Anorexia – A Webinar for School Leaders

Great administrators and teachers are emotionally intelligent and connect with their students and colleagues. They understand that positive relationships are the bedrock of successful schools. This can be emotionally draining, and if we do not replenish regularly, then it can lead to what Dr. William Sommers calls “emotional anorexia.” According to Dr. Sommers, when educators become emotionally anorexic, they lose their energy and enthusiasm, their ability to maintain meaningful working relationships, their self-efficacy and their desire to make a difference. When this happens, everyone suffers and morale spirals downward.

On February 15, 2022, CAS hosted a webinar featuring Dr. Sommers, who is an acclaimed author, consultant and 35-year veteran school administrator. In it, he shared strategies for combatting emotional anorexia by building and improving resilience, stamina, hope, and endurance. Click below to watch.
