CTMSDL Hosts Second Annual Championship
On Saturday, May 7, the Connecticut Middle School Debate League (CTMSDL) hosted its second annual championship tournament. Sixty-four (64) debaters from the following schools qualified for the championship by placing 1-10 at a CTMSDL tournament this season:
• Amity Middle School
• Eastern Middle School
• Irving A. Robbins Middle School
• Middlebrook School
• Smith Middle School
• St. Luke’s School
• Timothy Edwards Middle School
The motion was: This House, as the US federal government, would institute a Universal Basic Income (UBI).
The team of Wang, Dozier & Qin from Eastern Middle School in Riverside won on Opposition versus the team of Vijay, Wilson-Spiro & Ghuman from Middlebrook School in Wilton on Proposition. The team of Kodakirthi, Unde & Mashud from Irving A. Robbins in Farmington placed third.
Adeeva Ghuman of Middlebrook was the first place speaker. Lula Wang of Eastern was second and Kaitlyn Qin of Eastern placed third.
