CTMSDL Hosts Championship Tournament

First & second place finishers from Middlebrook School in Wilton

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, the Connecticut Middle School Debate League (CTMSDL) held its third annual championship tournament. Sixty-six debaters from the following eleven schools qualified for the championship by placing 1-10 at a CTMSDL tournament this season:

  • Stamford Middle Schools coached by AITE
  • Amity Middle School Bethany
  • Bethel Middle School
  • Hamden Hall
  • Irving A. Robbins Middle School
  • Memorial Middle School
  • Middlebrook Middle School
  • Smith Middle School
  • The Hive
  • Timothy Edwards Middle School
  • Westfield/ Watkinson

The motion was: This House believes that artificial intelligence (AI) will do more harm than good.

The Middlebrook team of Khan, Gupta & Kaimal won in a 2-1 decision on Proposition versus the Middlebrook team of Ren, Durden & Jaiswal. The team of Rock, Jaladurgam & Shenoy from Irving A. Robbins placed third.

Daria Lee from Irving A. Robbins was the first place speaker. Ryan Murray from Memorial was second and Krish Donikena from Stamford placed third.
