Middle School Students Debate Merits of School Uniforms
On November 4, 2023, the CTMSDL held a Novice Scrimmage and Open Level Tournament at Seymour Middle School. Two hundred forty-one debaters from fourteen schools combined into sixty Novice teams and twenty-six Open Level teams to debate the motion:
This House supports student uniforms.
Proposition prevailed in 59% of the debates.
The Stamford Schools team of Ho, Nandikesan & Potenza, coached by AITE, placed first in the Open Division. Leia Potenza from Scofield Magnet Middle School was the first place Open Level Speaker.
Teams from AITE, Timothy Edwards, Middlesex, Bethel, Smith, Irving A. Robbins, and Westfield Academy won both of their Open Level debates.
