Middle School Students Debate Merits of Age Limits for Elected Office

Top two teams from Bethel Middle School

On December 16, 2023, the CT Middle School Debate League (CTMSDL) held a tournament at Smith Middle School in Glastonbury. Three hundred eight debaters from 19 schools combined into 74 Novice teams and 35 Open Level teams to debate the motion: This House would set maximum age limits for elected office. Proposition prevailed in 50.6% of the debates.

The Final Round was between two teams from Bethel Middle School. The team of Radha Sinha, Aarna Doshi & Trisha Sharma prevailed on Opposition. Teams from Bethel, Middlebrook, Westfield, and Smith won all 3 of their Open Level debates.
