On Saturday, February 10, 2024, the CTMSDL held its last regular tournament of the season at Timothy Edwards Middle School in South Windsor. Despite morning traffic and an afternoon software crash, 260 debaters from 16 schools combined into 52 Novice teams and 42 Open Division teams to debate the motion: This House, as a Middle Schooler, would choose not to use social media.

Results can be found on Tabroom by clicking on Results for CTMSDLFeb10.

The Final Round was between Timothy Edwards and Bethel. The Timothy Edwards team of Mohanty, Pruthi & Chidiadi won on Proposition. Trisha Sharma from Bethel was the first place Open Speaker.

Teams from Bethel, Timothy Edwards, Stamford Schools, Irving A. Robbins, and Middlebrook won all 3 of their Open Division debates.

Teams from Nathan Hale, Timothy Edwards, Bethel and Ridgefield won all 3 of their Novice Division debates.

Thank you to the 64 volunteer judges!

Many thanks to Coach John Smith Horn’s team at Timothy Edwards Middle School; to the High School debaters and coaches who led workshops; to Jennifer Hunt for tabbing; to the coaches and parents for their support; and to the Greenwich Branch of the English Speaking Union for their sponsorship.

Our next tournament will be the 2023-24 Championship at Bethel Middle School on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The prep-ahead motion will be released on Saturday February 17.
