Middle School Debaters Compete in Winter Tournament
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, 283 middle school debaters from 14 schools competed in the CT Middle School Debate League’s winter tournament. They debated the motion: This House believes that carbon capture is essential to fighting climate change.
Seventy-one high school debaters and parents volunteered as judges, making the day possible. Results may be accessed on Tabroom.com under Results for CTMSDLFeb8. Thirteen teams – from Irving A. Robbins in Farmington, The Whitby School in Greenwich, Middlebrook in Wilton, Central in Greenwich, Smith in Glastonbury, Bethel, Westfield Academy in West Hartford, and Timothy Edwards in South Windsor – won all 3 of their rounds.
The Middlebrook, Wilton team of Bupta, Wong & Uttamchandani placed first and Anaya Uttamchandani from Middlebrook, Wilton was the highest scoring speaker of the day.
