CTSMDL Hosts First Event of 2025-26 Season

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, 258 middle school debaters from 13 schools competed in the CT Middle School Debate League’s first event of the season: a scrimmage for novice debaters and a tournament for experienced debaters. They debated the motion: This House supports U.S. federal congressional term limits. Seventy-one volunteer judges made the day possible. Aarna Jaggi from Timothy Edwards Middle School, South Windsor was the first place speaker. The Middlebrook Middle School (Wilton) team of Pendse, Shim & Dobson took the first place team award. Teams from Middlebrook, Westfield, Bethel and Amity won all 3 of their debate rounds.

The CTMSDL’s next tournament will be held at Seymour High School on December 13, 2025. The prep-ahead motion will be: This House would establish a permanent host city for the winter Olympics and a permanent host city for the summer Olympics.
