On Saturday, December 13, 2025, 270 middle school debaters from 17 schools competed in the CT Middle School Debate League’s (CTMSDL) second tournament of the season. Students debated the motion: This House would establish a permanent host city for the Winter Olympics and a permanent host city for the Summer Olympics.

Seventy-four volunteer judges made the day possible. Results can be found on tabroom.com under Results for CTMSDLDec13.

Aarna Jaggi from Westfield Academy was the first place speaker. The Westfield Academy team of Raja, Li & Chhillar took the first place team award. Teams from Westfield Academy, Timothy Edwards, Central Greenwich, Amity, Memorial, Middlebury, Bethel, Greenwich Country Day, and Eastern Greenwich won all three of their debate rounds.

Special thanks go to Harvey Catlin from Smith Seymour Schools for hosting the event.

The CTMSDL’s next tournament will be held at Timothy Edwards Middle School in South Windsor on February 28, 2026. It will be an all extemporaneous tournament.
