Naugatuck Students Participate in KiDSMARATHON
A beautiful day for running at Kids’ Marathon

The annual KiDSMARATHON was held on Saturday at Cheshire High School and Naugatuck students that attend Hillside Intermediate, Western Elementary, Andrew Avenue Elementary, Hop Brook Elementary, and Maple Hill Elementary School took part in what turned out to be a beautifully sunny Saturday morning.

According to the website, “The goal of KiDSMARATHON is to lay the foundation for a lifelong commitment to good health and fitness habits. We do this by educating KiDS about exercise and nutrition, empowering them to take their health into their own hands, and inspiring them with visits from running champions.

Representatives from schools or youth organizations will assume the role of coach / supervisor for the KiDSMARATHON program. Prior to program kick-off, each representative will be given a coach’s manual with instructions on how to run a successful program. An outline for each day’s required activities, as well as a suggested informational clinic for each week will be included.

These representatives communicate directly with KiDSMARATHON staff, who ensure delivery of all training supplies as well as coordination of school visits by KiDSMARATHON representatives. Founder Rod Dixon, Olympic Medalist and Winner of the 1983 New York Marathon, will visit multiple training locations for motivation and inspiration.”

The Connecticut Association of Schools, in partnership with Litchfield Hills Food Services is sponsoring KiDSMARATHON events across the state of Connecticut. We couldn’t be more excited for this communal participation from an entire state!

Specific celebration dates are/were:

Cheshire High school – May 17th
Norwich Free Academy – May 24th
Danbury – May 31st
Library Park, Waterbury – June 4th
Plumb Hill Playing Fields, Litchfield – June 7th
Over 5,000 kids are participating.
