State Releases Equitable Access to Excellent Educators Plan

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) has released the Connecticut Plan to Ensure Equitable Access to Excellent Educators (2015 Connecticut Equity Plan) for your review. This plan was submitted to the United States Department of Education on May 29, 2015. The Excellent Educators for All initiative, announced by Education Secretary Ame Duncan in July 2014, required all states to submit a comprehensive plan describing the steps that each state education agency will take to ensure that all children, including those attending high poverty/high minority schools, are taught by experienced, qualified teachers. The 2015 Connecticut Equity Plan was developed in consultation with a diverse set of stakeholders over the course of many meetings, webinars and focus groups. During those convenings, stakeholders analyzed data, identified equity gaps, examined root causes, and prioritized strategies intended to close these gaps.

The 2015 Connecticut Equity Plan outlines the steps the CSDE will take, in collaboration with identified districts, to close equity gaps over the next five years.
