Closing the Digital Divide: Access, Instruction, Equity

On September 17, 2020, CAS hosted a virtual conference titled “Closing the Digital Divide: Access, Instruction, Equity.” This full-day professional learning event was comprised of five separate webinars geared toward helping leaders re-open their schools with a focus on:

  • ensuring access to technology devices and the Internet for all students;
  • addressing the social and emotional learning needs of students through building relationships, safe environments, and positive school climates; and,
  • implementing effective pedagogical strategies that engage students in high quality learning experiences whether using an in-person, remote, or hybrid learning model.

The conference kicked off with a dynamite presentation by Dr. Doug Fisher, co-author of the 2020 Corwin Press “The Distance Learning Playbook, Grades K-12,” and concluded with a lively and informative panel discussion with our three 2020 CAS Principals of the Year! In between, we heard from several expert speakers and panelists who are passionate about connecting, caring for and engaging all of Connecticut’s students.

Each of the five sessions was recorded and is available for viewing below (click on the thumbnail). And be sure to catch the opening remarks by CAS President Andre Hauser, CT Commissioner of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona, and CAS Executive Director Glenn Lungarini!
